Bowling Alley in Al Khozama Hotel - Riyadh

Have you ever imagined a bowling place in Riyadh? You think this is a wayy very boring place? Well, think again, because I found myself in only one of the many bowling alleys here in Riyadh. This place is located in Al Khozama Hotel along King Fahad road or on the other side, along Olaya Road near Faisaliyah Mall. There are 4 bowling alleys and a mini bar upon the entrance. But to remind you, there are no alcoholic beverages being sold here, as you know in Saudi..LOL This place is perfect for bonding with friends and family. You can also take off your abaya for women. Not only that, there is one billiard table in one place, and a smoking area as well. But to unavoidable situation, even if there is a smoking area, the place smells like a cigarette company, so children is not advisable to bring in my own opinion. It's better to bring a group with you so that it would be less expensive on your part to rent the whole bowling lane. The cost per game is 10 riyals, and if you want to play another game, it's automatic to go back to zero and you can start all over again. Bringing of food s not allowed and there is a corkage of 200 riyals if you dare to bring some food. You can also reserve a bowling lane ahead of time just by calling them.

STOP KONY

There are a lot of video clips spreading in the internet today. It is about Joseph Kony, the warlord in Uganda, South Africa who is known to abduct children and convert them to become his slaves. Boys are trained to become his soldiers and girls are turned into sex slaves. How pity it is to know that there are certain things like that which is happening in this part of the world. But let's accept the reality that it's not only in Uganda that this issue is happening, there are may places around the globe that child exploitation occurs. This has become an argument and many critics who cannot just zip their mouth give comment on the said video comparing the same situation which is happening not only to Uganda but to other places as well. Their point is why he had to sensationalize it too much.

TED - Speaker Jeffrey Kluger

I was scanning my facebook account and found this interesting article that I was hooked up listening to. I wasn't able to put down my Ipad until the video finished playing. It is quite captivating to listen to the video and quite significant to share with others, because everyone of us can relate to our own stories about sibling relationships. 

I was astonished about the message of the speaker Jeffrey Kluger -  a senior editor of science and technology reporting at TIME magazine. He speaks about the SIBLING BOND -- it's not only about the relationship within siblings but also the whole relationship of the individual in the family. He tried to emphasize each and everyone's characteristics within the family in accordance to what number you are in the sibling order. He delivers appropriate, facts-based scenarios that could lead you to be magnetized and captivated by his cool disc jockey like voice.

Saudi License Renewal

Today I woke up so early to get to the Saudi Council Commission Office to renew my Saudi License Card. I have prepared all the necessary requirements the night before. My card had expired last December 2011, and I cannot apply to other hospitals if I will not renew my card.

I arrived so early that I was number two when I got a number from the machine. When I sat down and greeted the receptionist, I told her that I want to renew my license under the "not working" category. Why is that so, it's complicated! My sponsorship is still with my husband, not with the previous hospital that I had worked with. Anyway, she asked for my original license card and my current employment certificate. She entered something in the computer and asked for my original IQAMA. Then again she asked me to pay for 150.00 SR for the renewal fee. By the way, this is the most important thing, all payment transactions inside the commission are made thru credit card ONLY, no cash payment.

I waited for about 10 minutes and she presented me a new card with an active license until December 2012. I asked her if she needs anything more, then she replied , nothing more. 

 

I was amazed by how easy the process was. I didn't expect that despite all the preparation I did, it would only take fifteen minutes at most and good thing was I didn't have to come back. What a great relief, now I can go back to the hospital I'm eyeing to be my future employer. :)

The requirements for Medical Technician renewal are the following:

• Saudi Council Re-Registration Form (to be filled-up)
• 30 original CME certificates, BCLS
• MOH License
• Passport copy and Iqama (Residence Permit Card) copy
• 2 recent photos (2x2)
• Original Saudi Council Registration Card
• Saudi Council Accreditation certificate copy only

The requirements for Medical Specialist renewal are the the same listed above except for bullet number 2, which should be 60 CME hours certificates.
